With more than 1,100 miles (1760 klms) of beaches that stretch along the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico coast, the coast of Florida has a beach for every guest. No matter what your interest, said the treasure hunt surfing, shelling, bird watching, people, snorkeling, Florida history or romantic getaway, you can be sure that Florida is a beach which is perfect.

Don't be surprised if a dolphin or two goes bobbing past just a few metres away as they cruise the shallow Gulf Of Mexico waters searching for their dinner.

The quality of the Florida beaches is so so good that to describe any of them as "the best" can easily do a disservice to the others. In the following descriptions of Florida regions and their beaches, is is probably best to Discussion of these beaches as the "most popular" for visitors to Florida.

Each beach is unique. Some are exposed on the ocean swells, others are exposed on the sea side of barrier islands, while others on the leeward side of barrier islands. Some are for the abundance of shells, others are known for finding prehistoric shark teeth. Some beach locations attract tourists in search of lights, glamor and action while others seek peace, tranquility andtranquility.

** A Word Of Caution:

If you plan to spend some time on any of the Florida beaches, it's advisable that you should be aware of "sea lice". The offending critters are actually microscopic jellyfish larvae. The most common cases involve the larvae becoming trapped between the bathing suit fabric and the skin. It is also quite common to find that the larvae is attached to seaweed and transfers to the body as you brush against the seaweed.

Avoid seaweed clumps in the water and walking through seaweed and flotsam deposited on the high tide line. Keep your children out of the seaweed clumps as a precaution. While the sea lice season is usually thought to be the summer period between March to August, the author has experienced stings on the Gulf Coast in late October.

The part of the body that came in contact with the larvae quickly develops scores of raised red welts that cause extreme irritation and scratching that lasta at least a few days and possibly a week or longer. Some adults may feel tired and develop a fever and malaise. Children are more than one, fever, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea develop.

oral antihistamines and hydrocortisone cream to offer some relief from itching and most drug stores and supermarkets carry products for the treatment of bites.

There are a lot of reference material available on the Internet. Just use Google to search for "sea lice from Florida" to do.
